I started in May, 2017 and am still going strong. In fairness, I had extensive phone experience prior to coming here. Bottom line here is if you work the sales are here and the money is remarkable. This is far from “easy” but for being difficult, it is amazing. Paid like clockwork every single Friday. They never miss a beat. By the end of this year, 2018, I expect to be mostly out of debt. It is amazing to go to the store and NOT WORRY about the prices of things anymore AND to be paying down debt at the same time. I don’t enjoy paying higher than ever taxes BUT I’d rather have 60% of something than 100% of nothing.

Cons

At times if you don’t close the deal on the 1st call, someone else gets it but not usually.

Overall a great company, if you put the time in you can be successful , however it feels that many of the leads are misled by advertising that they can get much better coverage and rates than seniors actually qualify for.

Pros

Make your own schedule

Cons

Advertising sets unrealistic expectations for seniors

At first things were going well… I enjoyed working as a guide for Assurance… Tried my best to help customers (even the rude ones). Then things started to progressively get worst! It all started when they decreased our quality transfer pay rates. Also shortly after they SHUT DOWN our communication with other guides… We used to be able to help each other, answer each other’s disposition questions and etc. on slack! Then it got really bad! & They were making up additional rules on taking calls…. anything to make an excuse NOT to pay you!!! 🙁 But I still didn’t realize things were that BAD until it was too late! I received a call from a recruiter saying that I would make a great agent for the company… I was excited because I got the job at 6 months pregnant! Shortly after, I had my baby prematurely on the week that I was scheduled to attend training… So I contacted them immediately to let them know what had happened and to ask if I could reapply or begin training in the next month in which they replied back just a plain and flat out NO (with no regard to what I had just told them about having my baby prematurely)!!! 🙁 So then I asked if I could have my guide position back and never heard back from them!!! I can’t help but feel like I was blind-sided and unappreciated by Assurance after working so hard for the company! I just felt the need to warn others so hopefully I can save someone else from the HEARTACHE!!! :'(

Pros

same day pay, flexible schedule

Cons

changing the rules, poor communication, management, commission

This is a busy remote position and fair pay. The leads are iffy. Some people are very successful and some are not. No real understanding of their inbound call system

Typical day, you answer inbound calls and if you actually sell you get paid. No one to help you get started and if you get stuck there is no support unless you leave the customer hanging while you get the info. By that time, it is too late and you lose the customer.

Pros

If you sell you finally get a commission

Cons

if you sell and get the commission you have to wait to get paid

I work from home and there was not any outside of work or events that happened that would encourage and promote pride and growth in the company and that would have help understand why the company does what it do.

Pros

there working from home, some training, they provides some training, by webinars mostly

Cons

training is not very good, the training operators don’t work in and or have not worked in the field for several years, they don’t explain all the details of how they give out the calls and leads you get, At least I did not get any of that, I believe too they mislead you on how well you will do during the peak periods, they don’t tell you about the other training for 6 or more months of being with them

Not good for a New Agent just starting out and trying to learn the Insurance business. Platform is easy to navigate and the script is good. Just not enough support to succeed.

So far so good i guess. Been working for them for a week. Received 23 inbound calls only closed 1 policy. Most of the people that called in thought it was for health insurance, others had issues with payment. i dont have sales experience so i dont expect to be perfect. it comes with practice. Only thing negative i have to say is i think its a bit creepy how they drop in and listen during the calls without us knowing and whisper things in our ear to say to the customer or send us messages on Microsoft teams. Seems a bit helicopter mom to me. but other than that its ok

Assurance is awesome to work with. Cares about employees have work life balance no cons so far. Commission is very good can make great money to support your lifestyle

Pros

great commission plus base salary

Company is fine but it has its ups and downs due to marketing. Sometimes there is good leads other times there is a mixture in the queue which makes it seem slow. Overall the flexibility and support from the staff is great.

Very high expectations that are difficult to manage. Leads that come through are misleading causing confusion with the callers. Lot of explanations of benefits.

Cons

Leads aren’t that great

I have a few years of experience selling Medicare and selling Medicare is easy when you are not given road blocks. Assurance has a full script and requires you to go through many plates (screens) to get through the process. Their “CMS required” verbiage is nowhere near what is actually needed and all that happens is you sound like a robot reading a screen. The entire concept of a 1099 agent is great. work whenever you wont and commissions are average however you cant sell when even getting through the SOA is a sales pitch. it takes roughly 16 screens to click through just to see what plans are available in the customers area. its over 50 screens to click through to complete an enrollment. They also hold appointments for 4 months instead of the normal 90 days

Pros

work whenever you want (1099)

Cons

their system and script

They hired way too many guides after I started, so you had good leads for about two weeks. Once the next batch of new guides started, the fresh leads went to them. This happened every week for the first 9 weeks I worked there as a guide. If you stick with it you can make good money, especially around OEP/AEP.

Pros

Daily pay, work order bonuses, flexible schedule

Cons

A lot of recycled leads at the time, no management to transfer to if you had upset customers

The leads, products and carriers you get appointed with are great. However the compensation is terrible. When you sign up with Assurance they tell you that you get paid $65 for each health insurance plan you sell with a marketplace ACA carrier you’re appointed with and $15 for ACA health plans you sell with carriers you are not appointed with (called referrals). Assurance also sells private marketplace STMs and Indemnity (which are horrible). Assurance pays out private marketplace plans with no issue. Private marketplace plans were always my Plan B to sell because they are not good for people unlike ACA marketplace plans. I mostly sold ACA marketplace plans with the carriers I was appointed with. I noticed that I got paid $15 referral fees on most of my ACA appointed carriers when they should’ve been paid $65 as mentioned. Assurance refused to compensate me what they promised so I quit. DO NOT WORK HERE! They might reply to this message with some vague response; don’t buy it. Assurance doesn’t have a phone number you can call for support (minus the sales line if you want to buy insurance). I did the math and was not paid properly about $5K because of this issue. I worked here for 7 months and should’ve noticed this issue long ago.

Pros

Flexible hours, Remote

Cons

Compensation not paid as promised by company

To start off I was lied to from day one. Also they do not give releases so you are stuck for 6 month then it takes 3 months for a delayed Release from the Carriers . I would never recommend anyone to work for Assurance IQ. I know lots of people that started here when I did and most have left due to being lied to other have stated just because they have no choice due to the release process.

I have worked for this company for 3 years i discovered something that was mindboggling. When i first start working for the company my calls were spot on. I was making money . As time went on i found out that they are somehow able to cater calls and i was getting the brunt of it, Meaning people who had already been called 10 times a day as they say from this particular company. I tried to inquire on it to the team leaders and the next day i was let go . Thy said for performance. . Now they sent me these calls which they knew would go no where but yet i was responsible for them while all the new hires were getting the god calls as i did when i first started. Its a sad setup for people wanting to build a future with this company. If you work here just keep it as a part time job. Not to be security in anything.

Cons

No loyalty to employees

Unfortunately, the Guide position is commission only. No perks, no benefits. There are resources but many have to be ferreted out. It was a struggle to stay motivated working for commission only.

Cons

Commission work is not enough; hard to stay motivated

Sales Agent (Former Employee)TelecommuterSeptember 20, 2021

I worked here for a few weeks in the W2 Medicare division and I left because I literally felt like they wanted to control everything word that came out of your mouth in the sales process. We were given a script to read on the screen and had to follow along the script. It was basically impossible to have a natural conversation with callers because of the way the script was set up. For someone who is brand new to selling ,Medicare this would be a good position because you have someone to babysit you and tell you what to say at all times. As for myself, I have been in the Medicare industry for almost 2 decades now. So it was a bit frustrating to be forced to follow a certain process knowing that I have another process that works much more efficiently. I have been in the top tier in sales no matter where I have worked, and never once have had any compliance issues whatsoever. At Assurance we were actually expected to read EVERY SINGLE SEP to the caller if we were selling outside of AEP. That is just one of the things that completely baffled me. Trust me there is plenty more. All being said and done, I don’t think it’s a bad place to work. Yes the management does seem extremely unorganized, but that’s not something that concerned me. I prefer to be left alone and I will put deals on the board. After seeing the way that they do things at Assurance I decided that it just wasn’t the place for me. I left before the training was over so I didn’t take any phone calls or anything. I had to hurry up and get out of there before my carrier contracting was completed because once you are appointed –

Pros

Health Life and Dental benefits

You can receive a decent pay if you make the bonuses. But sometimes the position seems purposeless. We would transfer calls to the agents. So essentially we sort through many false leads, and speak with confused customers.

Cons

Lack of purpose, transparency, nefarious marketing tactics

I love my job! It is personally and professionally satisfying. I feel like I make a difference! The support from management is top notch with an abundance of opportunity to grow with the company.

Pros

Training, pay, work/life balance

Flexibility is amazing with Assurance, however communication and support is not their strong point in anyway. There is absolutely no proper communication when it comes to anything. I worked for assurance for 3 years straight as a guide full time. I was offered another position within the company and applied for it. The sad part is I was fired from within the first week due to background issues, in which I was honest and upfront about before even applying for the job with my recruiter. The relationship between guides, agents, management, HR and tech support is non existence and there is absolutely no actual support for any issue just in general or otherwise. Now I have absolutely no job due to their incompetence . I spoke to multiple people within the company in regards to eligibility for the position due to me having criminal convictions (I was even honest about what convictions were on my record as well as when they occurred) Once the background check was ran I was let go immediately. And told I can’t work for the company AT ALL because of it. It’s unacceptable for any company to treat their employees with such negligence not to mention disregard for the impact it has.
